Limerick Lions U-16's put in an excellent performance at the All-Ireland club championships last weekend in Galway. After going down to Maree of Galway in the first game, the Lions boys put in three top class performances against Waterford Vikings, St Brendan's of Tralee and Belfast Star. The Waterford and Belfast games were two of the best performances all season. The Lions boys brushed aside a decent Waterford team by 16 points and beat a very highly rated Belfast side in a third-place play-off, which was particularly impressive. It's North Munster cup finals day this Saturday March 23rd in the UL Arena and the Lions are in all 5 finals from U-12 boys up to Senior men. Cup final game-times below:
-  U-14: Lions v Celtics at 10am
-  U-12: Lions v Celtics at 11:15am
-  U-16: Lions v Lakers at 12:30pm
-  Senior: Lions v Newport at 1:45pm
-  U-18: Lions v Lakers at 3pm

Congratulations to Limerick Lions Men's senior team (in picture) who won the North Munster Area Board Men's senior open tournament in UL arena last Saturday. Dave Barry's side beat UL, Cork Celts and Newport Glen Cruisers to secure victory in the inaugural running of this tournament which provided an entertaining day's basketball for all in attendance in the UL arena. Charles Flynn, Rando Kozlov, Diarmuid O'Donovan and Raido Koiv were outstanding for Lions throughout the tournament.

Limerick Lions have won the North Munster U-16 league title for an impressive third year in a row. Under the expert guidance of head coach Diarmuid O'Donovan, the Lions boys are actually undefeated in three years of North Munster league competition. This season's squad is as good as any of its predecessors and secured the title in a gripping contest away to Limerick Celtics on 17th February last. Lions hosted a major U-10 blitz in St Clements last Sunday in which a total of 8 teams participated. Lions U-10's (in picture) were represented by 2 teams, coached expertly by Brendan Kelly and Nigel Briganti, and there were some great scoring performances from Reece Barry, Josh Mulhare, AJ Ryan Walsh, Jack Golden & Jamie Downey. In a very busy week for Limerick Lions, pride of place goes to the U16's (in picture) who clinched the North Munster league title by winning a tough away win over Limerick Celtics. Lions got off to a great start and led by 8 at the end of the first, but Celtics came fighting back and trimmed the lead to 4 at half-time. Both teams traded baskets in a very exciting final quarter until the Lions pulled away in the last minute to win by 8.
